‘Insecurity’ was shot on B&W 16mm film in Melbourne, Australia, and post-produced in Sydney. It was my second short film, completed in 1995. I’ve just had both shorts digitised. I was very lucky on ‘Insecurity’ to work with Iranian cinematographer Firouz Malekzadeh and his small camera crew. Firouz and his family had fled Iran and he was working in Melbourne as a taxi driver when I met him.
‘Insecurity’ was in international competition at the 1996 Silence elles tournent film festival, Montreal. It also played at film festivals in Australia and was bought by the Australian Film Institute who screened it at cinemas nationwide.
