Nick Woodall asked me to do a couple of videos for his business Inner West Outdoor Fitness, including this one which is the Welcome video for his website.
Nick’s outdoor fitness classes coincide with the best times of day to film – the golden hours at sunrise and sunset – so that was a win-win situation. And the location is one of my favourite parts of Sydney – Jubilee Park, with the Anzac Bridge and Sydney’s city skyline forming a backdrop.
I used a Canon C100 as my main camera and a 5DMk3 as the B cam, particularly for the moving shots. I wanted to be able to follow around the fitness class so steadicam shots were vital. The handheld Came-TV DSLR stabiliser that I used worked out well though I have to say it got a bit tiring! I understand now why many videographers prefer to strap the stabiliser on – the proper steadicam approach – rather than just carry it.
At least I got a workout.
